King Louis’ experimentations in sound started whilst listening to his parents’ soul, funk and motown records. Brought up on a blend of Stevie Wonder, the Supremes and the Jackson 5s it’s no wonder he has a passion for all things funky and soulful.

As he grew up he studied piano, learning jazz and classical. During this time he was constantly experimenting with recording and looping of sound sources through a combination of cassette tapes and keyboards. Life changed at 15 when someone played him an NWA cassette tape… the door to sampling, looping and cassette pause records was opened and he went down the rabbit hole with a twin cassette tape.

On a hunt for a way to explore better ways of recording and mixing sounds he went to a local music shop and was introduced to DJ mixers and turntables. There started a long love affair with hardware, DJ-ing and music production.

King Louis is the producer and occasional MC for Shirefunk, a party blend of hip-hop, folk, funk, and any other genre they decide to make – a stubborn refusal to be pigeon holed into one type of music, they aim is to make people smile and dance.

He makes a range of music for different genres, drum and bass, hip-hop, boombap, soundscapes, instrumentalist music and more.

King Louis has developed his music production through a range of hardware units and computer DAWs. He has maintained his love of DJ’ing performing at a range of venues and festivals playing a wide variety of music genres with one goal in mind – PARTY.

Still to this day he can be found chasing the white rabbit.
